Designing Made Simple With Bed Linen, Pictures And Plants

It can take time and creativity to design your perfect room. There are so many things you need to take into account, especially if you are new at it. To help get you started, here are some helpful hints.

1) If there is more than just you living in the house, the first thing you need to do is think about the personalities of the other people you are living with. If it’s just you living in the house, you can go wild with whatever you like. If you and your flatmate or partner has varying preferences, this can cause problems. Be prepared to compromise when making decisions on design and colour.

2) To get a good idea of themes and colours that you like, have a look in magazines and interior design journals. This really gives you the visual you need to think with when it will come to designing your own rooms, as it can be intimidating staring at those blank white walls trying to figure out what you are going to do in there.

3) The colours in a room can create atmosphere and tone so take your time when it comes to choosing your colour scheme. If there are any colours that you really don’t like, don’t use them. You might have chosen your furniture already, or be using some that you already have, if this is the case make sure you pick colours that works with this. The fabrics in your room are also important so find curtains and things to compliment. You can make a statement with bed linen or keep the colours neutral so that the wall colours are emphasised.

4) It is important to position your furniture wisely so that you do not overfill the room. Unless the room you are decorating is huge, you do not want it to look any smaller. Play around with the positioning until it feels right to you.

5) You can turn a house into a home by adding some cleverly placed accessories like candles or lamps. Plants and bright flowers can brighten a room up. They keep the room alive instead of an empty space when you are not in them. Put some nice photos on the walls and include your favourite ornaments into the design.

Design doesn’t have to be hard. You just have to find out what your style is and what makes you want to be there and then have fun putting it all together.
